Privacy Policy

We keep this simple: we collect only what we need to run openstem, we never sell your data, and you stay in control of it.

Last updated: June 4, 2026

Information we collect

  • Account information — your name and email address when you sign up, or the basic profile details shared by Google/GitHub if you use social sign-in.
  • Learning data — the decks you study, your review history, and progress metrics (XP, streaks, levels) needed to schedule your spaced repetition.
  • Usage data — anonymized, aggregated analytics about how features are used, so we can improve the product.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and personalize your learning experience.
  • Schedule reviews and power your progress analytics and AI tutoring.
  • Communicate with you about your account and important service updates.
  • Detect, prevent, and address abuse, security, and technical issues.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers who help us operate openstem (such as hosting, database, and email providers), and only to the extent needed to provide the service — or when required by law.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, after which we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal reasons.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we'll respond promptly.
